Vacuum Casting Machines

Produce high quality parts in a range of resins and glass filled nylon, or wax masters for investment casting.

The right machine for the right job!

Highly versatile technology

Vacuum casting machines from Renishaw allow engineers and designers to produce high quality parts. Cast parts closely replicate the performance attributes of injection molded parts, without the associated long lead times and process overheads.

Vacuum casting is a highly versatile technology capable of producing parts in a range of polyurethane (PU) resins and cast nylon, to replicate and replace engineering polymers for prototypes and low-volume production.

Typical applications include consumer products, automotive lenses and under-bonnet components, trim and interiors, white goods, housings and enclosures, scientific and healthcare products for a diverse range of industries and fields.

By using Renishaw vacuum casting machines, it is also possible to produce high quality wax masters used in the investment casting industry.

The vacuum casting process

First a mold needs to be created. Typical polyurethane and nylon vacuum casting molds are formed in RTV (room temperature vulcanization) silicone rubber using a master model.

The master model is usually produced via 3D printing from CAD (computer aided design) digital model. If a direct copy of an object is required, then the object can be used to make the silicone rubber mold.

Molds are capable of producing up to 50 parts before retooling is required, making vacuum casting machines the perfect choice for small batch production.
